NWA 5717 / CH-UNGR (Subtype 3.05) (click to enlarge)
Specimen weight - 44.29 grams
NWA 5717 is...
--1 of 18 OC and OC-like meteorites with a subtype less than 3.1. (12 of the 18 are Antarctic and are untouchable to the collecting community and another is Semarkona---the Holy Grail of meteorites which is also untouchable);
--the first meteorite to contain two 3.05 lithologies--neither of which has ever before been seen;
--1 of just 14 meteorites to have a CH-UNGR (chondrite ungrouped) classification . In effect, 5717 is so anomalous there is nothing it is anomalous to. From a previously unknown parent body. It is unique.
