Here are two fascinating views of Jim Strope's NWA 2986, a basaltic shergottite
with several pairings - and all of them (Marcin's MC047, for example) have this
intriguing feature: plagioclase shocked to translucent maskelynite.

What a thrill to look close-up at the crystalline beauty of a piece of rock from
a planet that has always had such a profound impact on our human imagination!
